Brad Smith – Founder

Brad is the Founder and Owner of Blacksmith Archery. Growing up in a family where no one hunted, he ultimately discovered bowhunting in an unusual fashion: following big wave surfing. In 2013 he stumbled across a picture of professional big wave surfer Mark Healey at full draw on his backyard range in Hawaii. Something clicked, and in November 2014 he purchased his first bow after saving up for nearly a year to get it. Since then, his passion for bowhunting has turned into a healthy obsession, learning as many ins and outs as possible. In November of 2021 he decided to switch back to an arrow he had previously used, and was dissatisfied with the FOC at 9.8%. After calling around for days he was told there was no product matching the description he was asking for. After teaming up with his buddy Adam, a mechanical engineer by trade, 24 hours later he was holding the first prototype of the Threaded Half-Out. Ever since, Brad and his wife Katlin have been working to bring the Threaded Half-Out to the rest of the bowhunting community.
